Cristiano Ronaldo punched by former teammate as PSG win Saudi Arabia friendly

Cristiano Ronaldo received a punch in the face during a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday.

The 37-year-old captained a Saudi All-Star XI in Riyadh, with his long-term rival Lionel Messi also starting for the Ligue 1 giants.

Messi opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, but as they pressed for an equaliser, the Saudi side looked to Ronaldo's world-famous heading ability.

However, as a cross was swung into the box, Ronaldo didn't reckon with his former Real Madrid team-mate Keylor Navas, whose attempt to punch clear also saw him connect with Ronaldo's face, thus giving away a penalty.

Ronaldo fell to the ground dazed, although he avoided serious injury. He, however, was left with a black eye.

He was soon back up on his feet to drill his spot-kick past Navas.
